Sri Prasanta Kumar Sahoo is a dancer since his early childhood. He grew up at Konark Natya Mandap, where he learnt Gotipua Dance from Padmashree Guru Gangadhar Pradhan and Guru Birabara Sahoo. During these years he performed widely in national and international festivals with the Konark Natya Mandap Gotipua Troupe. He continued his studies in dance learning Odissi from from Guru Gangadhar Pradhan, with whom he traveled and kept learning in intensive workshops in different cities, and from Guru Manoranjan Pradhan and Guru Lingaraj Swain at Guru Gangadhar Pradhan Foundation. At a young age he started performing and teaching for the same institution.
He extended his dance studies at Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya and Utkal University of Culture, acquiring the degrees of Bachelor of Music, Master of Music and Master of Philosophy, all of them in the field of Odissi dance, and including studies about music and different folk dances from Odisha. During that time he learnt from Guru Naba Kishore Mishra and continued learning from Guru Manoranjan Pradhan.
Prasanta Kumar is an experienced performer, as he has extensively performed as a group, duet and solo dancer since childhood till becoming a senior dancer of Guru Gangadhar Pradhan Foundation. He is also a disciplined teacher, as for many years he has tought Odissi dance to both local and international students, and gotipua dance to the prestigious troupe
of Konark Natya Mandap. He is a B Grade Doordarshan artist.
